iSimangaliso Wetland Park / St. Lucia

St. Lucia is the hub of iSimangaliso Wetland Park which is listed as an UNESCO world heritage site since December 1999. It is the most ecologically and historically diverse park in Southern Africa, home to many features like Lake St. Lucia where after dark 1300 hippos emerge from the lake to eat tons of grass, and can occasionally be seen walking in the streets of St. Lucia, even during the day.

Cape Vidal
Cape Vidal

Cape Vidal offers a superb location between Lake St Lucia with its resident wildlife and the tidal delights where you can snorkel in the Indian Ocean. This KwaZulu-Natal nature reserve has the best of both worlds.

We can offer:

  • Half / Full Day – Depart after breakfast travel via Eastern shores
  • View various Antelopes, Buffalo, possibly even Elephants on the way to Cape Vidal
  • Spend time on the magnificent Cape Vidal beach, enjoying the warm Indian Ocean
  • Snorkel at the reef when the tide allows and view various species of marine fish
  • Half Day – Return to St. Lucia in time for a late lunch at one of the Restaurants, or/and in time for a Sunset Boat Cruise on St. Lucia lake, getting up close to the Hippo Pods and a chance of seeing Crocodiles
  • Full Day – Freshly prepared picnic in the shade of the trees at Cape Vidal
  • Spend the rest of afternoon lazing on the Beach
  • Return to St. Lucia late afternoon in time to relax with a sundowner

The Eastern Shores

The Eastern Shores is the ideal beach and safari destination. A number of game viewing roads offer intimate access to varied habitats including dunes, grassland, lakes, pans and coastal dune forest. Lookout points provide panoramic vistas over a landscape shaped by human residence in Iron Age times and by the Bhangazi people.

We can offer:

  • Depart after breakfast / lunch entering Eastern Shores Park
  • Spend the Morning or Afternoon exploring the roads and loops of the park, stopping at various view points to admire the scenery of the surrounding area, or the posssibility of seeing hippos at the various pans
  • The park is home to many different animals – Zebra, Buffalo, Kudu, Reedbok, Crocodile, Elephants as well as the endangered Rhino
  • There is also an abundant bird life in the park for the keen birdwatchers
  • Return to St. Lucia in time for lunch or/and in time for a Sunset Boat Cruise on St. Lucia lake (Depending on morning or afternoon trip), getting up close to the Hippo Pods and a chance of seeing Crocodiles

Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park
Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park

Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park, formerly Hluhluwe–Umfolozi Game Reserve, is the oldest proclaimed nature reserve in Africa. It consists of 960 km² (96,000 ha) of hilly topography 280 kilometres (170 mi) north of Durban in central Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and is known for its rich wildlife and conservation efforts.

We can offer:

  • Depart early in the morning entering Park at Memorial or Nyalazi gate
  • This Park is home to the “BIG 5” – Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard. As well as the Wild Dog (painted wolf)
  • During the day we will spend our time looking at various animals like Giraffe, Nyala, Impala, Zebra, Baboon, Warthog, the sly Jackal and various others
  • The park is also home to some Migratory Birds of Prey as well as other amazing birds, like the beautiful Lilac Breasted Roller, various kingfishers and many more for the “avid” birdwatchers
  • Stop for a relaxing lunch break at “Hilltop Camp”
  • After lunch admire the wonderful views of the surrounding Park from outside the restaurant
  • Return to St. Lucia after lunch (in time for that Sunset Boat Cruise on St. Lucia lake (Depending on Full or Half Day Safari), getting up close to the Hippo Pods and a chance of seeing Crocodiles
  • Continue our Safari with the possibility of seeing new animals
  • Depart park, returning to St. Lucia late afternoon in time to freshen and head out for a scrumptious dinner
